This week in English, students will begin doing Stanford test prep using Test Ready test prep.  I am not grading the exercises we do in class this week.  It is only for practice and exposure to the types of questions they will be asked on the Stanford test in May.

We will read Acts 1 and 2 from 12 Angry Men.  Grades from this will come from class discussion and participation.

Students will work interjections and words often confused, like persecute/prosecute; immigrate/emigrate; and rational/rationale.  Students will choose five pairs from the list and illustrate or define them.  A worksheet will be given in class at the end of this week.  It is due for a grade next Monday/Tuesday.

Algebra 1:

Students are gearing up for their spring district assessment and are working diligently in Chapter 10 (Quadratics).

This week, students have no tests or quizzes.  They will do the following class work, finishing whatever material they do not finish in class as homework.  Each assignment will be a homework grade.

Algebra-Class/Homework:

Monday: Workbook:10.4 question #6, 9, 11, 24, 25;   10.6 questions 2-8 even, 16-24 even, 25, 26; (grade 10.1-10.3);

Wednesday: Workbook 10.7 #1-12 all AND14-24 even AND 25-31 all;(no grading today);

Thursday: Workbook 10.8 #1-17 all;(grade 10.4,10.6,10.7);

Pre-algebra:

Students are diligently working through the fundamental counting principle, permutations, combinations, and experimental and theoretical probability topics (Chapter 8).  Prior to Staar, these topics were discussed.  We are more fully exploring Chapter 8 this and last week. Last week, students completed Workbook 8-2 Lesson Reading Guide, 8-2 Study Guide and Intervention and a vocabulary crossword puzzle.  On Monday/Tuesday, students will learn about composite experiments (a topic we covered well prior to Staar, but that we will revisit briefly this week).  On Wednesday, I see 5th Period only.  Since 5th Period is a class period behind, this will be their day to catch up. On Thursday/Friday, students will explore experimental versus theoretical probability.

Pre-Algebra Class/Homework:

Monday/Tuesday-Workbook:  8-4 Study Guide and Intervention(all questions);8-4 Skills Practice (all questions);

Wednesday: Half Day Blue: No additional assignments;5th Period will cover the rest of 8-4 to catch up with Green Day students;

 Thursday/Friday-Workbook:8-5 Study Guide and Intervention (all questions);8-5 Word Problem Practice (all questions);
